Just as I promised in my last post, under the cut are my top 10 dances performed by professionals on Strictly Come Dancing since I started watching it in 2008.

As some of my friends have just started watching Strictly Come Dancing this year, I have people to talk (read: squee) to about it.

But I have three series worth of squee that I haven't been able to act on! So, under the cut are my top 10 dances performed by celebrities since I started watching it in 2008.

My Top 10 Strictly Come Dancing Celebrity Dances )

Coming soon: my favourite Strictly Come Dancing professional dances!

PS: I'd love to hear about other people's favourite dances from any series of Strictly, so feel free to comment, even if I don't know you!

PSS: Yes, I am going to be completely unbearable while Strictly is going on. Sorry!

Ask me about a femmeslash pairing from one of my fandoms, and I will talk at length about that pairing!
To make this easier, I've made a list of fandoms that I have femslash ships in - you can ask me about fandoms that aren't in the list, but there's a good chance that I won't know who you're talking about.

Fandom List )

Fun Fact: I've written out a massive list of my femslash ships ready for the next Porn Battle, and so far I have 225 of them XD

I was going to write an entry about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but I need some cheering up.

So, I hereby declare that the comment section of this post is a Pony Party Zone! Talk about your favourite characters! Show off your icons! Post macros and gifs! Link us to awesome pony fanworks! Ask me/anyone else who turns up for their opinions! Invite your friends! Do anything pony-related that you can think of that I haven't mentioned yet!

To start the party off, here's something awesome on youtube that I got linked to earlier. And here's a description of what it is, under the cut so I don't spoil the surprise for those who like surprises )

(For those who haven't seen MLP:FiM yet, you can find the episodes on youtube. This is the first episode, and this is the first episode with English subtitles.)
Cat with a halo
Yes, I know that Day 21 is actually tomorrow, but I forgot to do any of this for two weeks, so how on earth would I remember to do it tomorrow? I wouldnt't, that's how.

5. How about when you're not on the computer?
I like baking, I volunteer, I go to a sign language class and I get really frustrated at video games.

6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I have the utmost hatred for the words "lame" and "dumb" when used to mean "bad" - I literally flinch when I see/hear them used that way. The same goes for "crazy" and "gay" when used in the same way (which I luckily see/hear less), along with "spaz" and "dur/derp" (which I seem to be hearing a lot more of all of a sudden - seriously, I haven't heard them since high school, and now they're back and I could scream).

7. What is your favourite community on Dreamwidth?
I don't have one :(

8. What community do you wish was more active?
[community profile] ff_yuri - seriously, most of the posts there are mine.

9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
Maybe? I dunno, what if they hated each other? They'd end up hating me for introducing them, that's what :(

10. Tell me about your default icon.
Cat + halo = [personal profile] angelikitten

11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
A teleporter.

12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile? Why?
I'll tell you what my interests tell me - they tell me that I need to update my interest list.

13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
avoiding confrontation, colouring outside the lines, ridiculous ideas that just might work, ridiculous ideas that will never work, square numbers, triangle numbers - apparently these things are not as awesome as I think they are :(

14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
You know, I don't even remember. Answers on a postcard please.

15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - it was something nice to watch on a not very nice day. At this point I'm probably meant to say "and here's a relevant community!", but there doesn't really seem to be one.

16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
See answer to question 15. I'd post about my feelings about My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, but I don't think anyone wants to hear them. Especially since I'm a ponyshipper.

17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
Well, I went to school with [personal profile] wood_elf, hung around with [personal profile] oldredeyes, went to London with [personal profile] miss_odalisque, stayed at [personal profile] fizzyblogic and [personal profile] leanwellback's place numerous times (including Failmas 2008) and had them stay at mine, had [personal profile] acroamatica come to my house, and met [personal profile] shirasade at [personal profile] fizzyblogic's place.

18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?
Nothing really. I mean I try not to talk about my depression too much, but that's not due to being too personal or energy-consuming - it's because I don't want to scare everyone away.

19. Any questions from the audience?
Okay, but don't blame me if I forget to answer them.

20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
It's nice enough, but where's the yuri?

21. What's your favourite thing about Dreamwidth?
My circle ♥

A pile of wool, with a ball of purple wool at the front
I'm slightly annoyed at myself. I promised myself I'd do 10 little tiny hats for The Big Knit this year. I managed two of them, and then realised that I'd been using the wrong size needles, and so the little tiny hats are now too little and tiny to be of any use. I was so proud of the second one as well! It didn't help that I lost my 4mm needles, and my 3.25mm needles are now about as straight as I am.

So now I have just over 3 weeks to make 10 little tiny hats that are slightly bigger than the last two little tiny hats :(

Also, question for anyone who has ever used a walking stick (or similar) and had to sit at a desk/table for any period of time - where do you put the stick while you're sat there? I've tried hanging it off the back of the chair (I accidentally knocked it off every time), laying it on the floor out of the way (my back doesn't agree with me bending over to pick it back up) and leaning it against the table/desk (tends to fall over if I don't hold onto it, which gets annoying after the first hour or so, especially if I need both hands to do something else), and I don't know what else to try.

Also also, I need some help with a writing exercise/meme-type thing. I've got a list of 21 characters that I'd like to write about more. I'd love it if you could come up with some questions about these characters for me to answer, without knowing who the characters are. For example, you could ask "What does #1 like and dislike about themselves?" or "#2 and #3 end up on a desert island together - what's the first thing they do?". I'll probably try to wait a week before posting any answers, for obvious reasons.
Garnet's important haircut from FFIX
What have I been doing lately that has stopped me from updating? Not much really, although quite a bit of it has involved re-playing Final Fantasy X and trying not to destroy my PS2 in the process.

Let's just say that me and FFX aren't friends right now, and leave it at that.

The other day, I found an old CD that someone sent to me years ago which had some of the tracks from Final Fantasy IX. How it has survived this long is beyond me.

But, oh! I've been reminded that FFIX really is the game of my heart. Musings about the Final Fantasy IX soundtrack )

So not much has been going on, except I got some new clothes the other day. Anyone want to see some terrible photos? Warning: these photos are bad. )

A cat resting
This morning I woke up with a headache with a side order of ow. It's still here, although the painkillers have reduced it to a dull ache, but it meant that I couldn't go shopping earlier :(

Also, the Porn Battle X post is up! I promised myself I'd write at least one fic for it, and so far I've done... one fic. Mission complete! Now I've just got to convince myself that I don't need a new target - obviously if I write another fic it's not a bad thing, but I don't want to feel bad if I don't, you know?
Yuna and Rikku from FFX hugging
I was going to write fic, but then the post came, and with it a copy of Final Fantasy X that I ordered on Saturday night! I totally wasn't expecting it to arrive so fast.

Honest to god, I just put it in and let the intro run, and it feels like I never stopped playing ♥
Bubble floating through a street
I just accidentally deleted several paragraphs on how I failed at volunteering yesterday. Short version: I shouldn't have even been out of the house in that state as it causes me to be a danger to myself and others, so the fact that I got anything done yesterday is a small miracle, and I need to stop worrying that I didn't get enough stuff done. Am not in that state now, thank goodness.

Also, last night, I re-found my slinky. It turns out that playing with it is quite possibly my emergency coping method. Especially when using it as a musical instrument to accompany 80s music.

In other news, I have jelly ready for Doctor Who later. Om nom nom.

PS: For those who were wondering about the answer to that poll I did last week, I like crunchy peanut butter, but apparently I'm in the minority on that around here XD
Cat with a halo
I very rarely get just one idea for a fanwork - normally I get two at once, and they both end up being so flawed that I end up doing neither.

Just so you can see what I mean, here are the ideas I had yesterday:

Contains spoilers for current series of Doctor Who )

Now here's a question for all the TV-watching Brits out there: Who's hosting Channel 4's Alternative Election Night?

If you said Jimmy Carr, David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker, you're actually not quite right - at least, according to the Channel 4 website, which describes the show as:

Live satire and sass with David Mitchell, Jimmy Carr and Lauren Laverne, intercut with specially recorded election night shows
[emphasis mine]

I don't know about you, but this is news to me, because all the adverts I've seen for this haven't even so much as hinted that Lauren Laverne was going to be involved at all, never mind that she's one of the presenters. It's not like she's a totally last-minute addition to the show either - she's mentioned in a comment on a thread about the programme over on Digital Spy, dated 24 April 2010.

Why'd you leave Lauren out of the advert Channel 4? Lauren's awesome *sulks*

[Note #1] For the record, I think Jimmy Carr, David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker are brilliant, and I would be totally happy with just the three of them hosting the show, I really would. And up until an hour ago, I was quite happy to watch that show. But that's not the show that's on, and I would have liked to know that.

[Note #2] I know that Lauren Laverne is generally a very busy person, and may not have had time to star in the adverts - but that doesn't explain why Channel 4 didn't bother to even mention her in them, and that's what I'm annoyed about.

The upside to shopping on a Sunday is that I can get a bus straight to the shopping centre that houses the supermarket where I can get the products that don't make me feel like hell due to my lactose intolerance.

The downside is that I either have to get from the bus stop to the supermarket and back again in less than 15 minutes, or end up spending anywhere up to an hour waiting for the next bus. There are only two ways to do it in 15 minutes:
  1. Move really fast
  2. Don't bother paying
And let's face it - if you're planning to get away with #2, you'd better be ready to do #1 when the security guards notice.

I should have just stuck with my plan to write fic inspired by last night's Doctor Who.

Pick 20 films/games/TV shows/whatever. Look up their summaries on the Better Than It Sounds list, and have your friends guess which films/games/TV shows/whatever you're talking about.

[Note] There may be some errors (missed/extra words or phrases, typos, etc) because I'm trying to do this on a phone that doesn't let me copy from webpages. Incidentally, that's why I only did 15 of these rather than 20.

The whole sending parcels out thing? Did not happen. I can't say why, or I'll spoil surprises for people. I did, however, manage to buy new trainers Good thing too, seeing as the old ones have holes in.

I've realised that I need more icons of awesome women/female characters. It turns out that I only have eight that I mainly use because I think they are awesome... )

So, I need more icons of awesome women/female characters, on the basis of because I said so. These are the ones I can think of right now:

  • Garcia, JJ or Emily from Criminal Minds
  • Max or Original Cindy from Dark Angel
  • Wil or Vivian from Saving Face
  • Pretty much half the characters in D.E.B.S
  • The abovementioned Velma + Daphne high-five icon (the screencap must be somewhere, this is the internet for crying out loud!)

A short list, but I'm tired and can't put names to the faces of the other people/characters I'm thinking of. Help me? If you want to make suggestions in the comments, even if you're not sure if I've heard of them, that would really help.
Yami Yugi looking lost in thought - from Yu-Gi-Oh
Things I was going to make a post about, but will probably never get around to:

  • Saw the new Doctor Who at the weekend. Still not sure how I feel about it.

  • Saw Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. For a film that so many people think is awesome, I was left feeling distinctly meh about it (except for that bit with the kid, which made me happy). Maybe I just expected too much of it?

  • My grandad bought me an Easter egg from Hotel Chocolat. If I melted it down and made rice crispie cakes out of it, they would be the best rice crispie cakes ever. At the same time, I just couldn't bring myself to do it, it's that good.

Wow, I really did have nothing to post about over the last few days.

Things my brain wants me to write:

  • How 5 queer characters reacted to the zombie apocalypse and lived to tell the tale - although I've only got 4 so far

For those participating in [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest this year:

The mods have decided that people can now claim two prompt. If you want to claim a second prompt, just follow the instructions on the prompt claiming post (where it was announced as an ETA).

One one hand, I just wrote a post for [community profile] gay_also_means_happy, which is something to be happy about.

On the other hand, it took me two hours. TWO HOURS. And that's only if you don't count the 10 and a half months I've been meaning to do it for.

I'm thinking about doing [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest this year. I tried last year and failed miserably. I do not want to fail this year.

How can I maximize my chances of completing a story this year? My depression has a tendancy to surface at times when I least need it to, and there's a good chance that I won't be writing on the days that it's worst.

(Also, I'm already looking through prompts as they're being suggested, do you think that will help?)

PS: If you have any suggestions how to make sure you finish a story for other types of challenges, they're totally welcome here - you never know when they'll come in useful.
