There is a mouse in my room.

Wait, that's not strictly true. Either there is a mouse in my room, or I am starting to hear things again. The last time I started hearing things (and the two times before that), I ended up having a nervous breakdown. Having been through enough breakdowns in my life, I don't think anyone can blame me for going with the mouse theory. After all, I'm not scared of mice.

Our cat used to catch mice, normally killing them but occasionally, one would escape. They don't bother me one bit; I've had two-day stakeouts under the washing machine.

If you're going to lay a trap, remember that they like chocolate more than cheese. Factoid: some mice are lactose-intolerant and would actually die eating cheese.

Thing is, there's no actual sign of mice anywhere. Which actually does scare me.

MICE! They're cute! We had a common vole infestation once and one ended up living under my bed. I fed it sunflower seeds every now and then. Our dog, big overgrown lab that he is, was terrified of them.

Also, those common mouse traps are hell to place, nervewracking, in fact. I kept on worrying that it would slam shut on me.

Altho' you can get humane traps which are a foot-long plastic tube with a bend in the middle, so when Mousey steps on it, the door slams shut behind him.

That way, the animal is trapped, not your fingers.

I'd go with the mice theory. Besides, here it could be a weta (a large cricket/potato bug thingie). THem critters are mostly harmless (they eat dead wood I think) but still spook me in the garden.

*hugs* Hang in there.

And I shall, until someone actually proves that I'm hearing things.

If you think you may be imagining it, you probably aren't imagining it and it probably really is a mouse or two. They're looking for places to call home for the winter in our (and your) hemisphere. I actually like mice too, but I can't have them chewing on important stuff in the walls like wiring. Not that they are doing that in your place, but that's usually what they go for in our place.

Yeah, the last thing we need is one to chew through the wires :(
